Day 12 We had a pretty easy paddling day, with todays crew consisting of Magnus, Orlu, and myself. We covered a medium distance of around 30km. The paddling was unremarkable, but we ended up in an area comprised of hundreds of fingers of rock, which produced more and more islands as the tide came in. There were birds everywhere, many still nesting, and a careful observer could find several nests hidden in the tall grass. I went for a long walk just before bed, hiking towards the distant ridges to a little used road at the base. There were several farm houses in the area, most of whom are abandoned. I´m told they were abandoned after the country went bankrupt, but they are being used as vacation houses. |
